Acts of Godfrey
Stars: Simon Callow, Harry Enfield, Iain Robertson, Doon Mackichan, Celia Imrie, Myfanwy Waring, Shobu Kapoor, Demetri Goritsas
Director: Johnny Daukes
Writer-director Daukes debut feature first finds Robertson stark naked outside a hotel and becomes weirder by the moment. And all in rhyming couplets as well!
A film in verse?
That sounds perverse.
Its certainly bizarre.
And often goes too far.
But should you want to be kind
And really dont mind
A plot filled with holes
Callow in multiple roles
Enfield at his worst
Even worse than the verse
With characters so odd
You accept Callow as God
Crooks peddling pills
for men's sexual ills
Then Daukes first movie
Could be mistaken for groovy
Its certainly more daft
Than a gryphon on a raft
But if you enjoy rhyme
And passing the time
In the cinemas safe charm
Without lasting harm
Its definitely unique
If essentially a freak.
