An absolutely foul Brazilian horror film, replete with torture, huge amounts of blood, casual nudity and visions of Hell, all based on a character called Coffin Joe from seventies movies, and unbelievably still played by the same actor (director Marins).
He still has his flattened top hat and long fingernails, but has otherwise grown into a squat, squint-eyed, bearded old man - still, it seems, capable of hypnotising comely wenches everywhere before sacrificing them in the cause of finding the perfect woman.
Occasional flashes of style from a director who's obviously a fan of Germanic horror films from the silent era can't conceal the fact that this revolting, harshly-spoken film is by and large an abomination.
