Like a Boss

2/10

Stars: Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, Salma Hayek, Billy Porter, Ari Graynor, Jennifer Coolidge, Lisa Kudrow

Director: Miguel Arteta

An early contender for Turkey of the Year. Star Haddish also exec-produced this farrago, so presumably she also read the film's God-awful screenplay. To their credit, however, she and co-star Byrne give their all in a lost cause, as co-owners of the Mia and Mel beauty business.

With such products as 'Baby's first make-up kit', though, it's no wonder they're thousands of dollars in debt.

Salvation sems to beckon with the (scarcely believable) interest of cosmetics goddess Claire Luna (a dreadful part for the pneumatic Hayek), who'll take 49 per cent of their failing company in return for new ideas: seems like the woman must have bricks for brains.

Of course it isn't long before Mia and Mel, best friends since childhood, start to fall out, before realising that they're stronger as a team.

The script contains lots of expletives and bodily references, but Bridesmaids, alas, this isn't, as the movie battles to provide an audience with any reason for actually watching it. At least it won't take up too much of your viewing time.
