Stars: Scott Mechlowitz. Amelia Warner, Shaun Evans, Tony Barry
Director: Ringan Ledwidge
Vaguely based, one supposes, on the infamous Joanne Lees/Peter Falconio case, this is the story of two British backpackers (Warner, Evans) who unwisely hitch a lift across Australia with an enigmatic American, Taylor (Mechlowitz), who appears, from a casual encounter with a former female acquaintance, to be a decidedly dodgy piece of work.
Nothing much happens here until the last five minutes, as the benighted trio ploughs its way across the Outback. So you could be inclined to agree with quotes from Evans - 'I've had enough of this' - or Mechlowitz - 'My eyes are just closing'.
Despite help from the music, the director manages to engender neither tension nor suspense. The scenery is impressive for about 30 seconds but that's it. An interminable 88 minutes.
