Out on a Limb

6/10

Stars: Henry Goodman, Rolanda Marais, Neil Stuke, Julianne White

Director: Robert Heath

A curious mixture of good and bad, presumably like the cooking of Felix Limb (Goodman), once the cordon bleu of celebrity chefs, but now the Clouseau of TV cuisine.

With his show on the box dumped - 'I can't be sleeping with someone who hasn't got a series,' wails his PA/mistress (Marais) - and his marriage frostier than 'royal' cake icing, Felix is at an all-time low.

That is, until he holds a dinner party that's crashed by two gun-wielding masked men who've arrived at the wrong address. Police arrive. The house is surrounded. At first terrified, Felix soon decides to cook for his captors, as one or two of his guests consider capitalising on the situation.

This is worth seeing for the best bits, and there are some good outright laughs, even though an aura of B-movie film-making does hang over the project. Equal portions, in fact, of witty lines and clunkers - not bad rations for a Britcom nowadays.
